Hello Folks, it's me John here sending out the news from the
frozen river banks of the Mississippi. We keep looking for a crack
in the ice but the old thermometer is suppose to read 0 degrees
tomorrow morning so it may be awhile. Guess I better head for
Arizona eh? : )
In this email:
WHERE I'VE BEEN
I had some really well attended concerts in WI, IL, IA and MN
in Jan and Feb. As well as a nice warm week down in FL, AL, and
NC.
A great outdoor gig at the Shack in the Back near Ft Lauderdale,
a sweet show in Marco Island, then flew down in a tiny 7 seat
plane ( got to sit next to the pilot) down to Key West for a show
and a couple of days of r & r, Ahhhh! Saw family near Tampa,
had a another fun show in Auburn AL ,then over to NC where I got
to see and sing with my daughter Elisi and her husband Tim who
live in Durham, a great house concert series there at Jim and
Deborah Robert's. Also a fun day singing in Charlotte to several
familiar faces at the Center for Positive Living.
WHAT'S UP?
On the personal side of things, I've been busy planning all the
details for the summer Ireland tours I will be leading along with
my Irish partner Tom. http://www.49chevy.com/js-ireland/
While in AZ next week after a few shows I am going to go see a
couple of spring training baseball games, something I have always
wanted to do. My old high school buddy Mike will drive down from
Camp Verde to join me.
On a sad sports story today, we heard the news that our beloved
Brett Favre is retiring. He will be sorely missed.
I've also been making plans for teaching songwriting at several
places this year. At the Kerrville folks festival May 27-29 www.kerrvillefolkfestival.com,
at the Cedar Run camp in VA July 6-10 http://www.cedarrunworkshops.com/
, at the Sister's Folk festival song academy Sept 2-5 http://www.sistersfolkfestival.com/american_song.html,
and once again Nov 2-7 at the Esalen Institute near Big Sur CA.
From March 19-29 my wife Jo and I will meet many from her family
and camp along the FL coast. Lots of birdwatching, soaking up
the sun, walks on the beach, and serious cribbage games. Jo especially
needs some sun.
WHERE I'M GOING
Below is a list of upcoming shows for the next few months. Come
on out and spread the word to friends and family around the country.
Thank you all for your caring support.
Think Spring!!!
Love ya
John
